Get to Know Spanish Wells

Spanish Wells is an out island in the Bahamas that is a working Lobster fishing community with nice people. It is a clean safe island and a good way to get away from a fast paced life and enjoy island living. The beach in front of the house is all sand and shallow at low water where you can walk out for a block or two. The water is very warm in the summer and cooler in the winter. The wind is stronger in the winter and very light in the summer. The humidity is high in the summer and much less in the winter.

Cash is preferred on the island. Credit cards are accepted at most places including Food Fair, the local grocery store.

Walking the beach, sunbathing, swimming, reading a book are all nice things to do.

The signs point to various locations such as Valentines, Rooster Tail Bar, Restaurant, Exuma, Eleuthera, Abaco, Andros, Valentines Marina, and Pool, with a blue sky and palm trees in the background.

Getting There

Part of the charm of the island is that it is remote and therefore getting there is more of a challenge than flying into a large city. Here are some options below.

Nassau Airport has new terminals and is an excellent choice when connecting to North Eleuthera.

North Eleuthera Airport (ELH) is the largest airport on North Eleuthera and the closest to the Beach House (15 min cab ride $25). Note: Governors Harbour Airport (GHB) is further away from Spanish Wells on North Eleuthera and is an expensive cab ride (approx $95).

“The house was very clean and exactly as pictured. Our family had the best Thanksgiving vacation in Spanish Wells, thanks to this house! Mark was very responsive and provided every piece of information to make our vacation as easy and enjoyable as possible.”
